Bårarp gneiss

Bårarp gneiss is a natural stone extracted from quarries in Bårarp and surrounding areas in northwestern Skåne. The region is known for its rich geological history and for being one of the leading sources of gneiss in the country.

Gneiss is a metamorphic rock that has formed through the transformation of existing bedrock under high pressure and temperature. It has a similar composition to granite but has undergone an additional metamorphic process, which gives it a more banded or layered structure. It may have a similar color palette to granite, but the streaks and variations in the structure often create a unique visual effect.

The geographical proximity to the extraction sites makes Bårarps gneiss a local and sustainable option for those who value both quality and origin. Its significance as a local resource and the quality it represents have made Bårarps gneiss a sought-after stone type for gravestones.

Bårarp gneiss is characterized by its rich colors and patterns, ranging from deep grey shades to darker tones with hints of black and brown. Its natural beauty and variation make each gravestone unique and personal.
